The Hostess/Sommelier is a dual-role position combining responsibilities for welcoming guests and managing the wine service. As a hostess, you ensure a smooth guest experience upon arrival and seating, while as a sommelier, you provide expert wine recommendations and oversee wine pairings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and coordinate table assignments.
- Provide wine recommendations based on guests’ preferences and the menu.
- Oversee wine service, including pouring and explaining wine choices.
- Manage the wine inventory and ensure proper wine storage.
- Ensure a welcoming atmosphere and address guest inquiries or complaints.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and service team for wine pairings.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a hostess and/or sommelier in a restaurant setting.
- In-depth knowledge of wines, wine service, and food pairings.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Certification in wine education (WSET, CMS) is a plus.
